What Should I Get My Husband For Christmas?

What do you get a man who has everything? Have you ever felt the disappointment of selecting what you thought was the perfect gift, and receiving an astounding and stupendous look of boredom, feigned excitement, or worse — polite appreciation?

Well, shop no further! I have the perfect gift idea for you to give your husband. It’s a one of a kind, no exchanges-no returns, one size fits all, gift that keeps on giving! You might be saying, “Well, you don’t know my husband!” No, but I know mine, and I have a sneaky suspicion that men are fairly simple creatures who share some things in common!

After years of trying to find the perfect gift for my husband, I finally decided to just ask him what constituted a good gift. He reiterated what he had told me many times before – his favorite gift was spending time with me – ;-) — you know what I mean! I just didn’t get it. Why was that special? It’s not like he was deprived and could only look forward to a handful of holidays as his only satisfaction. We were well within the national average for intimacy — if the nation is being truthful! What made that special?

I could buy a new nightie, a special candle, a new CD, or lotion, but once the wrapping is removed, the truth is that you just took the same old gift from last Christmas and rewrapped it — and it’s a little worn and wrinkled this season! What’s special about that?

Ding…ding…ding – the bell is ringing, but is anybody home? [*You’ll have to read the rest of the chapter to understand this!] I hear him, but I just can’t believe it. It’s like the Mommy who tells her child, “All I want for my birthday is a hug, a kiss, and a cheerful, obedient attitude.” Would that be a better gift than a smudged card or cheap perfume? Absolutely. Imagine if you told your child that, and he replied, “No thanks. It’s a whole lot easier to get the perfume, and it only costed $3.”!

It might be easier to buy an unnecessary gift and pretend we’ve done our duty, but if he’d rather have our love, tenderness, and embrace, then our purchased gift is of little value. He wants your total adoration, complete love and devotion, your trust, your fears, your doubts – all given to him, wrapped up in the package of you!!

It is wonderfully romantic for a wife to offer herself as a gift of her pledge to symbolize the total giving of her heart, her will, her dreams, and her future into the hands of her husband. Her husband is her caretaker, provider, lover, defender, and friend, and in the end he restores all of that and more back to her.

Every time the wife presents the gift of herself to her husband (especially when she doesn’t feel like it), she is saying, “I love you completely. I rejoice in you. I find fulfillment in you. You make me happy. You are strong. You are wonderful. You are all I want. You are important. You are everything to me.” See what a gift that is?

It is not a one-time, home for the holidays, limited-time offer. It is a gift that keeps on giving, it is a no-expiration coupon, a renewable gift certificate, a no-limit gift card with a no-return, no-exchange policy! I hope that you have fun this Christmas season wrapping up some festive and fun ‘gifts’ for your husband, and don’t forget that most of the fun is in unwrapping the surprise!

If you really want to surprise him, you might wrap up a copy of ‘Won Without Words’ for him and see the look on his face when he reads this from the cover:  “

Won Without Words

How I conquered nagging, lecturing, and arguing, and learned how to get everything I ever wanted from my husband without saying a single word.”
