YOU ARE VALUABLE. You are a treasure. You are a gem. You don’t need to compare yourself with anyone, because you are without compare, an exquisite and rare creation. You have been designed with infinite wisdom. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You have gifts that you alone possess, to bestow upon people that you alone can reach, to produce a harvest that you alone can reap.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:10
Now, don’t get all lost in the wording. The only words that matter are the words of God. And whether we choose to read the translation of KJV, NIV, ASV, or a paraphrase that translates truths, the real importance is in the words of life that transform our lives. And since few of us can read the original Hebrew of the Old Testament we all rely on translations of one sort or another. . . (no need for comparison here, is there?:)
matsa. . . chayil. . . ishshah. . . meker. . . rachowq. . . paniyn
Attain. . . strength/efficiency (masculine, like an army). . . woman. . . value. . . distant lands. . . gems.
You, precious woman are valuable. And God would go to distant lands to attain such a treasure. Indeed. . . He did when He sent His Son. . .
He has a plan and a purpose for your life, and in return, you must attain strength, efficiency, the skill of a well-ordered army, in order to accomplish the purposes He has for you. . . and to become the woman you are destined to be. . .
Since you are truly such a gem, then you must be discovered, polished, displayed, and that is a process. . . a journey. . . a glorious and wonderful ride called life. . . abundant life!
On our own, we’re a lump of coal, but under the refining blows of the Master Jeweler, we become a unique gem, brilliantly reflecting all the facets of His glorious love. Have you submitted to the Master’s hand? Are you willing to become the jewel He envisions? Are you ready to stop comparing yourself to His other treasures? Can you trust Him to reveal your hidden brilliance? Can you silently wait while he contemplates your final beauty, while He prepares to make the cut, while He strikes the shattering blow, as He tenderly removes the dross, and polishes you to brilliance?
He has gone to distant realms to procure you. . . oh beautiful gem of a woman! Your humble act of service is to display the treasure that He found in a jar of clay.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! I John 3:1
