P31 Post 21: Renewable Income Source – As Refreshing As Watermelon On A Hot Day!

For other posts in the Proverbs 31 For the Average Woman series, click here.

Do you ever long for a source of income that is renewable, sustainable, far-reaching, something that could provide a blessing for your children and grandchildren?

Do you ever envision yourself working side by side with your children, teaching them  not only when you rise up in the morning and lie down at night, but as you walk along the way during the day?

“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Deuteronomy 6:7

Well, then, let’s take a cue from the Proverbs 31 Woman, because she must have had this idea, too. She found a way to work with her family to generate enough income to make a long-term investment in a venture that would produce many income streams for many years.

It wasn’t just money in the bank. . . she still had to put forth the effort every year. . . but it wasn’t like a normal job, where she had to punch the time clock in order to get a paycheck — once you stop punching the time clock, you stop getting a paycheck. She had a renewable resource — even better a renewable income source!

Planting and selling watermelons is an income stream. Selling rare and interesting watermelon seeds to an international customer base like the Gettles do at Baker Creek Seeds — now that’s a renewable income source!

Wouldn’t it be great to have a venture that would grow and produce even while you were sleeping or resting on the Sabbath, or working on another project? Wouldn’t it be great to have a product or income stream that once established would produce somewhat on its own with general oversight by you or one of your children?

I agree! That is a Biblically-based, potentially favored and blessed by God venture! And we’ve been analyzing how this one little verse gives us such a wealth of wisdom!

She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. Proverbs 31:16

A wise and virtuous Christian woman will look into all ventures with a considerate and careful plan.  When she determines that it has potential to yield a profit, then she acquires and takes possession of the opportunity — she reaches out, grasps the knob, turns the handle and opens the door when opportunity knocks!

She takes the profit of her earnings, and utilizing all of her resources, with her children at her side, she establishes a “vineyard”, a profit yielding venture, that will grow her investment, which will provide a renewable source of income for many years, that will appreciate in value, and will be satisfying and rewarding, as she provides a product that represents joyous and celebratory contentment and fulfillment.

And I could go on for days and days about this (and already have!), but I don’t want to bore you, or miss out on the next exciting verses. So. . . I’m going to save Mondays for MONEY for the next few weeks.

We’ll continue to delve into this verse, and the wonderful hints it provides for opportunities for you, dear woman, to bless your family, to find areas that utilize the talents and resources of your children to build godly and prosperous families, who are satisfied with the fruit of their hands, as God blesses abundantly.
