Thanks for stopping by today! It’s time for Saturday Grapevine! If you are new, I hope you’ll check out some of our earlier Saturday Grapevine posts on encouraging intimacy in marriage, or click on the subscribe button so you’ll get all future posts. But, do that later, because we better get started on today’s challenge!

If as they say, “Intimacy begins in the mind,” then I say you better get a headstart on your husband, because it will take longer for the message to travel from your mind to the moment — than it will for him!

I promise you that the thoughts you think today will determine the outcome of intimacy tonight. Don’t believe me? Well, then I dare you to try an experiment!

Today, choose to think thoughts that will enhance your intimacy with your husband, and choose to reject thoughts that would hinder intimacy with your husband.

For example, if you begin to think thoughts like:

  • He doesn’t appreciate me. . .
  • He doesn’t know me. . .
  • He doesn’t care about. . .
  • I can’t believe he. . .
  • Good grief, when will he ever. . .
  • I remember that time when he. . .

You will become frustrated, and you will have a nice lonely evening :(.

Instead, if you choose to think thoughts like:

  • I fell in love with him because. . .
  • I love it when he. . .
  • I appreciate him because. . .
  • One of the things I admire most about my husband is. . .
  • I’ve always wanted our intimacy to . . .
  • I remember the first times we kissed . . .
  • I can’t wait until tonight because. . .

. . . then, you will have the reward of making the future come true, by the thoughts that you think! And because the thoughts you think will eventually become the words you speak,

(From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Matthew 12:34, Luke 6:45)

well. . . soon your husband will be hearing lovely things come from those luscious lips of yours!

So, ladies, if you want to change the future, change your thoughts. And you better get busy, because it might take you most of the day to overcome some of the negative thoughts you’ve been thinking lately, so I suggest you start without him — he’ll quickly catch up — especially if he has a one-track mind!

Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

Happy thoughts!

Shari
