Forty-one more days of encouragement in our countdown. And may I also encourage you to invite a friend, link your favorite posts on your Facebook page, or grab my blog button to share the blog with others! You never know how many wives might need this encouragement, too.

For five minutes today, I want to encourage you to pray for your husband as though you are one flesh. Pray for the struggles he faces. Pray for the temptations he has. Pray for the sins he gives in to. Pray for him to be a man of integrity and great moral character. Pray for him to be bold and courageous. Pray for him to resist the enemy. Pray that he would be spared from the enemy of his soul, who would seek to steal, kill and destroy.

Because, dear sister. . . you are one flesh with your husband. It is a great mystery. It is as great as the mystery of Christ and the church. And if the church has the power and privilege of being Christ’s body on this earth, being his hands and heart and feet, then we have the same mysterious power in our marriage to be ‘one flesh’ with our husband. The one flesh is not just a euphemism for physical oneness. It is a covenant arrangement that we entered into with our vows of fidelity, consumated by the physical oneness, that symbolizes the spiritual oneness.

So, even if your husband doesn’t know it, he is closer to Salvation than he realizes, because he is one flesh with a spiritually alive, vibrant, blood bought daughter of the King!

And if your husband is battling some darts of Satan, then, you, O godly woman, rise up with the shield of faith to quench those darts, speak the word, and make great swashes with the sword of the word, as you use divinely powerful weapons to tear down the spiritual strongholds in your marriage, on behalf of your husband.

If your husband is being oppressed or hassled by spiritual forces and wickedness, as he battles not against flesh and blood, then you, precious woman, have the right to enter prayer and help him resist the forces of darkness on behalf of your husband, your one flesh.

I encourage you today, to grab hold of this concept through faith, and to storm the spiritual realms with your prayers of faith and victory.

Resist the enemy, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Do you love your husband enough to come near the domain of darkness armed with spiritual weapons, to bring light into his darkness? Declare the word of God in the darkness. Speak it loud. Speak it strong. Speak it often. Declare it loudly so that the forces of darkness will hear and tremble.

Shout a battle cry:

I am bought with a price (and the purchase price paid for my husband, too). (I Cor 6:20)

Nothing shall separate me and my husband from the love of God. (Romans 8:35-39)

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might, dear sister, as you proclaim release for the captive, and freedom for the prisoner, as you lead your husband into the glorious light of God’s love — without a single word to him, but through prayer to God. It is a battle that is Won Without Words!
