Countdown #40: Don’t Disregard Love

Five minutes. It’s all I have to offer you today, but may God take these little minutes, and break them into the manna you need today, dear sister.

God loves you so much, that he sent his only Son to tell you the truth, and to leave you an example of that great love in the form of suffering on a cross, for remission, for redemption, for victory.

And part of the victory that he obtained that day, when he took the keys of death and hell, was displayed in the the power of love. Never forget the power of love. Love was the motivating force that sent the son. Love was the force that caused Christ’s steps to turn willingly toward Calvary. And it was love that said, “It is finished,” as he willingly stopped breathing, so that he could enter the domain of darkness to finish the work.

Don’t ever disregard the power of love. Your love for your husband can be the catalyst that causes you to ‘in the same way‘ submit to your husband in love, to show him the love of a Savior, to pray for his salvation, to model submission so that he might submit to the Good Shepherd.

I pray that this week, as you contemplate with gratitude all of the blessings of Thanksgiving, that you will also contemplate the power of love. Your love has the power to woo your husband to the heart of God. Allow the love of God to be shed abroad in your heart toward your husband, so that as you love and serve, ‘the least of these‘ you are serving Christ. As you submit to your husband, you are submitting to Christ. As you wash the feet of your husband, you are washing the feet of Christ.

I pray this prayer for you, my sister,

I pray out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in  your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:16-21
