If I could give you one tip for today, it would be to seek the Father. In His presence is joy and peace and love. And He is Immanuel.
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life; in thy presence is fulness of joy; at they right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalms 16:11
Oh, to be a child that adores the Father — not because of what He can give us, but just because of who He is.
May we not be like the prodigal who only came home because of what he could get from the father, or like the elder brother who served only because of duty and habit.
May we be like one who climbs into the lap of Abba Father just because.
The father admonished the elder brother. . . “My son,” the father said, “You are always with me, and everything I have is yours.” Luke 15:31 NIV
So true. If you are feeling a bit like the elder brother, and you are feeling the weight of responsibility, always watching everyone else have the party, celebrating at your expense and effort, take a step back, and look at your Father. He is the true gift. Time with Him is the treasure. Being with Him daily, even in service, is the inheritance!
If you are the younger brother, in a distant land, a long time since you have seen your father’s face, I encourage you to drop everything and run straight to Him. He is waiting, and He will run to you when He sees you coming.
May we rest against the Father, like a weaned child rests against his mother ( Psalm 131:2) — wanting nothing, demanding nothing, usurping nothing, uncomplaining, not whimpering . . . just resting in His embrace, loving Him, showering Him with hugs and kisses of adoration.
Oh come, let us adore Him!
