Yes Dear!

Challenge:  For one full day, practice saying “Yes, Dear” to your husband!

When my children were little, they were so demanding needy, that it seemed my sanity and survival depended on being able to say no.

Soon it became a habit, and my default mode. When I heard “Mommy, may I. . .” before they could get the request out of their mouths, my answer was “No.”

Why?  Why say no?  I decided to see if I could say yes more often.  Mommy, can we bake cookies?  Mommy can you read me a story?  Mommy, can you fix this?  Why not?

We tend to say no out of habit to our husband, too.  Might be time to take one day to practice saying yes.  I know that it seems everyone wants something from you, but don’t take advantage of the one person who really matters — your partner, your friend, your lover.

So, for one day, make it your goal to say “Yes Dear” to your husband.  If he cuddles up to you and says, “Let’s sleep in today,”  surprise him by saying, “Yes, Dear.”  The kids won’t starve.  In fact, leave a box of cereal and some bowls on the counter just in case!

If he says, “Hey, want to run into town with me?” even though you have a lot of chores to catch up on, say, “Yes Dear.”

If he says, “Hey want to go out to eat tonight?” don’t tell him that you probably shouldn’t spend the money (he knows whether he can afford to take his wife out to dinner); say “Yes Dear”.

If he says, “Want to go for a ride on my motorcycle,” or “Want to go for a boat ride?” or “Want to fly to Nashville for the weekend?” “Want to go for a hot air balloon ride?”or “Want to go fishing?”:  say “Yes Dear”.

Be adventurous, be daring, take some risks, be available, be responsive, be fun, be cute, be there in the moment to enjoy your husband, and allow him to enjoy you.  Live a little!

And, if you’re bold enough, hop on over to the 100 Days Facebook page and tell us what you said yes to!
