On Mondays in September, I’m linking up with some friends for the Revive Your Marriage Series.
Today’s topic is Revive Your Friendship.
This is an easy topic, because you see. . . I married my best friend.
I highly recommend it!
It keeps you together, because you can’t afford to lose your best friend . . . and your husband.
But. . . there are a few challenges to being married to your best friend.
- It makes it difficult to talk about the things that frustrate you about your husband. . . but then should we even voice that anyway?
- When your husband is busy, there’s no one to hang out with.
- You can’t get accurate marriage advice from your best friend. You never know whether he’s siding with your husband because he’s right, or because he’s wrong!
But, here’s what I LOVE about being married to my best friend:
- We’re never bored with each other.
- We love to be together no matter what we’re doing. (even been known to work together).
- After we have fun hanging out, we get to go home together and hang out some more!
But, you have to make sure that your relationship is not just platonic!! There’s a whole level of friendly fun available to best friends who are also married! It’s kind of like a circle. You are friends. You love your friend. Your friend is your lover. You love that you are friends. . . It’s just one big wedding ring of a circle of loving your friend and being friendly with your lover.
If you’ve forgotten that your husband is your best friend, here are a few fun things you can do together to remind yourself how fun he is:
- Find a common interest.
- Do a sport or activity together.
- Find a hobby to do together.
- Work on a project together.
- Just hang out with him while he’s doing something he enjoys.
If you’ve forgotten that your best friend is also your lover, well then surprise your best friend with some marital bliss!
Revive your friendship!
