Moments matter.

That moment when your child drives off in the car by herself for the first time.  And even better, that moment when you see her pulling safely back into the driveway.

That moment when you are somewhat grudgingly grocery shopping, and look up to see your husband coming to join you, as a surprise, after getting off of work for the day.

The moment when you step onto a beach for the first time in about twenty-five years, and are just blown away by the vastness of the Gulf, and the beauty of God’s creation.

Those moments of quietness in the presence of the Father.

Life is made up of moments that quickly turn into days, weeks, years.  It’s easy to let them pass by unnoticed, in the rush of all that has to get done, or the seeming sameness of our days.

In today’s devotion from 30 Days to Lay Aside Weight, we are encouraged to learn to savor a moment.  Let’s practice taking that extra time to pause and let sink in the special moments that come along.

So when you get a chance to gather with those you love – celebrate!  And what celebration would be complete without dessert? 🙂  It’s okay to let yourself indulge in a few bites of that pumpkin pie or birthday cake – and enjoy them!  Slow down and really taste that bit of sweet treat.  Notice the different flavors and textures.  You might find that a small portion, thoroughly savored, is even more satisfying than you imagined it could be.
